Course 1:
Biblical Counselling
The purpose of Semester
1 is to equip students to:
-
become acquainted with a Biblical model for
counselling and to apply it;
-
understand the principles / foundations of Biblical
Counselling;
-
experience growth by applying the principles to their
own lives;
-
develop an understanding of Biblical counselling
through case studies, counselling projects and discussions.
Outcomes:
At the end of the semester students will
demonstrate the following:

Unit 1: Counselling and Being Human

How does change take place in a person’s life?
Unit 2: The dynamics of Biblical change

How can I use creativity in counselling?
Unit 5: Creativity in Counselling

Which Biblical perspectives on counselling have been
developed in Semester 1?

bear testimony to Spiritual gifts for a fruitful ministry in informal
counselling of the family, church and community.

Attitude / values
which display the fruit of the Spirit like humility, love, steadfastness and
maturity.
Admission Requirement:
Grade 12
Duration of course:
Six months (January to June)
Contact sessions:
Year programme 2012
Methodology: Interactive
facilitation during contact days; self-study using the Bible, course textbook,
learning guide and prescribed reading; written assignments; keeping a learning
journal.
Venue: Contact
sessions are held at Radio Pulpit, 42 Jacobus Street, Kilner Park, Pretoria –
as well as at other centres depending on the number of students at these
centres.

Eloff, dr. Vorster Combrink, and others.
Cost:
The total cost of Course 1 (Semester 1 + Semester
2) is R6000.00. A deposit of R1000.00 must accompany the
enrolment form. This price does not include additional textbooks.
Semester 2:
Biblical Counselling - Application

The purpose of Semester 2
is to equip students to:
-
apply the Counselling model of Semester 1 to all
areas of life;
-
evaluate themselves as counsellors in terms of their
skills and character.
Outcomes:
At the end of the semester students will
demonstrate the following:

Knowledge
of the following aspects covered in study units:

Which principles does the Bible give for marriage and
family life?
Unit 1: Biblical principles for marriage and family counselling

How can individuals with needs in their marriages be
helped?
Unit 2: Marriage counselling

How can I evaluate myself as counsellor?
Unit 3: Characteristics of a Biblical Counsellor
-
How can persons with depression be supported?
Unit 4: Depression counselling
-
How can persons with addiction be helped?
Unit 5: Addiction counselling
-
How can I support people who are suffering?
Unit 6: Suffering counselling
-
How can those suffering from stress be
counselled?
Unit 7: Stress counselling

Skills provided
by the Holy Spirit for the application of the Counselling Model to the areas
listed in the Knowledge section.

Completion of all assignments for Semester 1
Duration of course:
Six months (July to December) . Final assessment at the end of the year.
